Grazing records

Used to have each group which were lambed in a field and leave 4 pages per field of an a6 diary so that you could track all movements/treatments etc.

Agriwebb mobile app is great, it gives you history of each mob, how long they’ve been in a field, days since last grazed etc etc... I never wrote dates down before in the diary but this does it automatically. It’s amazing when you think they’ve just come from a field or a circuit of fields and then find out on the app it’s 20+ days ago.

I do have well over 60 groups in March/April mind so keeping track in a diary was a lot of work, now I can record movements etc while driving across the field while moving them. I’ve just counted and I’ve got 34 groups at the moment.

Do you mind me asking what it costs? PM me if you prefer.

Grazing planning charts are awesome, not sure if they'd be as easy with lots of mobs but I guess you could use colour coding or something?
We run a simple leader/follower grazing pattern, so just mark in the main mob's position on "the good copy" and have our grazing plan on another one, being old-school I just put one on top of the other like when we used to trace pictures out of books

Helps immensely with giving pastures the rest they require and planning around off-farm activities, and being very visual it makes changing things very easy

The big advantage is that I can "see" when we're having to speed up grazing to feed the stock, which lets me get rid of stock before overstocking digs an expensive hole

The visual aspect of the paper based system looks easy to follow, but I know what I’m like with paperwork and with the best will in the world I’m not sure I’d update it as I should.
We’re organic, so I don’t need to record fert and sprays, but my lack of adequate records was picked up during an inspection this week and I know that I need to improve things for my own sake.
The AgriWebb system looks very convenient to use, though it duplicates what we currently do with Shearwell. Thanks for the contact info @Al R, I’ll give Campbell a ring tomorrow.
