greasing the tractor

I've never once thought about jacking up the tractor to grease it? Fully front suspended on mine, all the grease goes in easy, I just think the amount it moves and everything else I can imagine the grease manages to find it's way around everywhere it needs to go?

The maxxum has got front suspension but I’m not convinced it does much!

Its a good idea, but show me a manual that says you need to do it... never replaced a pivot pin/bush here yet.
MF 6270 manual.

You know when it's switched off on jd 6430 makes hell of a difference

Yes but on a John Deere it actually does something when it’s switched on. The Maxxum out on the road is about as comfortable as falling down the stairs.

Our 6930 and Deutz 6185 are so much better, the Deutz is particularly comfortable. Despite that I do still like the Maxxum, the CVX implementation is the best gearbox interface i’ve used, so simple.

Maxxum bad!!’ I’m amazed how good mine is compared to MF 7480 which really is apauling, I know I have commented on here several years ago that it’s less comfortable on the road than my 6200 series without any suspension.
Which version of maxxum are you talking about? Mine is the latest 6 pot, earlier 4 pots were shorter in the wheelbase allthough current 4 pits have a spacer and are now same length as 6 pot, just wondering if the earlier 4 pots weren’t as good , I know someone with a previous model 4 pot with just cab suspension that says his ain’t great on the road.............. allthough he still leaves me behind despite his being 40k and mine being 50k:scratchhead:
I ought to add he’s almost 20 years younger.

Longer wheelbase makes a big difference. We demoed a Puma 160 and after that a Puma 170 and the 170 was much more stable on the road (160 is swb and 170 lwb).

Is there something wrong with your accumulators on the 7480? Mines very comfy on the road

Well now, its in black and white in the Leyland hand books, and even then the thrust bearings usually get none, their being a long way from the fitting.
