Well its my first go at no till and considering just how heavy the field is and having no preparation (rake etc) it made a very good job. Old tramlines were bad as were some combine wheelings but these could possibly be managed better going forward?

I'm not a fan of the triple disc system but I've seen some ok drilling results.

Just not a fan of the idea that the press wheel tries to press on top of the slot without actually folding the soil back over.

Yes it can be ok but it can often be wanting. I think its time to leave the triple disc design retire, not market it as a relaunched idea. Ultimately with long term no till a triple disc will let you down more often than a single disc IMO.

Simon I tend to disagree this is my triple disc choice with a no till concept and ability. Regardless of year or weather. And ability to place seed as well as seed at the time of planting. In my experience.

@Elmsted - that's a triple disc planter though.

Do massey make them or someone else do it for them?

Simon as ever the written word on the internet is easily missunderstood. The planter is built as part of the global Agco in house brands. The front double discs apply fertiliser to the side and below the seed. Whereas the single disc with trash clearers prepare for the following seed planting discs to open the slot.. The white pipes are or can be used to apply insecticides/growth promoters or seed bed levels of plant nutrients. the distribution hoppers are not in the photo as where not fitted at the time but are simply clicked on to the white area with grey hatching behind each row unit. Drive for these comming from the clearly seen sprockets. Hope this helps.

Stephen.

the thing is that the Agco drill has two closing wheels where as the spartan has one.

there isn't enough room to put two closing wheels on the spartan in the same area. The Kuhn has the same problem
