Hi all.
Has anyone any experience on the eco burials business. I ve seen a few sites in rest of UK for green burials or woodland burials but there is nothing in ni yet as far as I know.
Are they popular ?

Some are exceedingly popular, others will never break even, there are three in the area I live in, one close to Cambridge has had thousands of burials the others one of which is close to Ramsey and one in the middle of nowhere near Newmarket have had very few. The Cambridge one was started later but its geographical position enabled it to quickly overtake the other two.
Provided you can get a good location it should be viable, however there is one huge problem, once you've taken the clients money there is no further income source EVER. Meanwhile you have a wood gradually maturing that will eventually require extensive work, but due to all the graves you will be very restricted as to what machinery can be used.
Ask anyone who sits on a parish or town council about cemetery finances, they will all say that there's loses large sums annually, and the older it gets the worse the deficit

If you charge say £1500? Per burial how many graves per acre?

guess it’s a fair few. Admittedly yes a one time payment but having a mature woodland must be a benefit?? Especially if it’s a poor or low productivity field?

The father in law of a good mate of mine made a fortune from setting up a pet cemetery. Probably less money per burial, but more burials per acre and surely much fewer long term restrictions and hassles.
