No surprise when you think about it, masses of acorns/ beech mast last autumn followed by a mild winter means early breeding. Time to check for bark stripping.
Thought we had one or two here. Got rabbit traps out to see if I could catch them. Caught 41 so far from two smallish woods and still seeing as many about.
Guys from the estate have been trapping them round about. The trap in the wood behind our house had a couple in most days, within an hour of emptying & resetting.
They are obviously nasty b*stards when caged though, as one was usually dead soon after.
