Grimme GZ auto depth issues

We have a 2004 GZ with auto depth. Has anyone had any issues where one side lifts out randomly?
I am not sure whether there is a problem with the auto depth or whether it is dirt sticking to the discs making the soil boil up, resulting in the machine lifting one side out. We are on very light black fen with little cut which doesn't help!
Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Does it have pressure sensing on the dialbo,s,,the reekie we had did and it had to run slightly deeper to compensate
I would assume so as you can adjust diablo pressure on the control box. We have tried running deeper to see if things improved but it didn't seem to change much!

Have you tried calibrating the Diablos? Or at least if you go in the diagnostics you’d be able so see if a pot is playing up. It may be something as simple as a connection. Does the depth sensing work via the rams on the diablos?
The symptoms sound similar to something we encountered this yr, cure was several big elastic bands pulling the plug a certain angle to maintain connection 🙄...........should really fix it properly I suppose.

I haven't tried calibrating the diablos but that sounds like a good plan! Is there a pattern you need to access the diagnostics menu?
Yes, depth sensing works via the rams.

As big as the discs are ,,they only need to be in by about an inch ,2 at most ,,they are only there to cut the tops and aid a clean flow onto the web ,,get them too deep and you can warp them out of shape or destroy the bearings ,if they are bringing up alot of soil ,they are too deep .

I’m not sure of pattern on a gz, ours is a 2008 varitron. But maybe similar.

from memory.....it’s maybe totally different on trailed........ And it’s a 2 person job. On it hit the red mushroom, press picture of harvester, select front of harvester, cycle thru options to find diablos, select f2(?), it turns red, select Left Diablo, it turns red, ensure left Diablo is in it’s lowest position, hit down button, it beeps, raise roller fully and hold it up, press up button, it beeps, Repeat for rhs, deselect all and exit.

if that’s no help, try to access diagnostics and find diablos, at least there you’d be able to see voltage change as you move the rollers. If it’s erratic then prob with ram, if it sits at 0v then prob connection/wire prob.

good luck.

Did you have any joy?
Had a word with an ex Grimme technician today who reckons that on a GZ diablos can't be recalibrated, can be done on a GT apparently.
Went into the diagnostics and found the voltages on the left and right diablos. They were both reading about 14v. Haven't used the machine today but will keep a close eye on these voltages next week when we are digging again.
Hopefully we will get things sorted.
Thanks again.

Had a similar issue on a gt (2010), was the sensor in the Diablo ram. As they always run about the same height they wear out the metallic strip that they use to sense. Only started doing it when I had to dig deeper for some rather large Picasso. Ended up with a new ram and having to calibrate the new ram.
