Groundswell a bit pricey?

I don't mind paying as long as there not some BGT reject playing in the Drinks tent so LOUD that you can't even talk to a person sitting next to you, the event about the free flow of info, and knowledge exegenge, you can't do that if every other word you say is WHAT, cause some "musician" thinks he play Wembley
That is the one area, where, as the average age of the British farmer is about 60, the more "festival" vibe of groundswell probably isn't suited to the audience. I agree, in my opinion the bands should turn the volume down, or even hire someone more acoustic.

If you don't make back the money you invested on going there in 1 year and then know you can build on that many times over in the next 5-10 years then you probably shouldn't go.

Ignorance costs nothing.
Learning to critically think about pro's and con's is priceless.
Good comment.
Being able to be 'objective' with yourself and go against what some others and even your own prejudice's is not exactly easy at times and for some mor e than others.

Whilst we were at the 2014 NSA Sheep even at Malvern there was a stand 'selling' the Solar PV idea for large scale farm land use.
We just happened on passing to have a brief chat with them as a direct but somewhat delayed result 3 years later we had a 25 acre site application on the way , one of the best business decision s I've made.

Being a member of the NSA get free entry to that event. :sneaky:

My suggestion was that the "louder" bands, should play in the demonstration field, beyond the machinery lines!! 😏

I'd say in fairness Groundswell are certainly interested in setting the tone and generating debate about all land use perspectives.

It's a force for good
The overall attitude that's given off by....
Even though its not meant to be its all a bit belittling / annoying to say the least to those that have worked for years at improving/ being more and more efficient /smart at what they do. withy real cost constraints and considerations .
Take a recent DD magazine front cover (I note ,) with a ewe with its head in a lick bucket and the story of a small uncommercial numbered flock on luxuriant acres which really is a total insult to any modern professional sheepman ,(Yes in this Country) .
Big current Example How must Wales's impressive Beef and Sheep sector on marginal ground in comparison feel, ? well we know don't we, and i would recommend that they don't read such magazines any way to keep their blood pressure down at least.
as for land use lets face it as far as goes , SFI scheme will be no brain sign up for plenty of arable farmers in particular.

Who exactly is this event aimed at spell it out please.

They will not mind and someone needs to show the corpo"rats "who turn up there the difference between no till madness and ploughing? I dont have a plough so over to you... things cost money.. fees are fees

There's loads of space away from the music tent, Grandad.

My highlight of the last Groundswell was being dragged off by some of my students to "big fish, little fish, cardboard box" in the music tent.

I felt its more about farmer to farmer idea exchange with a smattering of good speakers and educators who are used to talking and bringing fresh ideas or perspectives to an area of farming/ environment etc.

I think you are thinking prescriptively, every farm and farmer is different its up to you whether you think any sort of knowledge exchange is worth it or not.

When I've been there are have been some people speaking who I definitely don't rate paticularly and yet others hang on every word. My point is people experience things differently. Other times I've listened sat in a tent within only 10 others listening to someone who knows the technicality of their topic innately but clearly doesn't float many peoples boats.

You could probably understand him. The UK is even worse for talking like they’ve got a mouth full of marbles so he’s probably super clear for you
