We average around 850mm (just googled) farm would be over shale so dry quickly
Not sure mob grazing would work here , currently paddocks looking on how to help correct soils and to get minerals available to stock through alternative swarth planting
We are round the 2m mark for average rainfall but have had 3m in a year over the last few years, was thinking more rotational grazing style rather than true mob stocking looking at 7/8 paddocks on a min 30 day rotation at high growth and 60 day in winter. think from other threads you are on a similar sort of plan, just worried about poaching at high numbers in small paddocks

@SilliamWhale and @Bill the Bass yes i have some very unsuitable land, was just thinking of doing some experiments on the better land using the current boundaries with some additional field spliting. Already don't use much fert and want to cut down more plus have healthier stock, been set stocking for years mainly as its difficult to move between different blocks of land and secondly to try and discourage campers etc. Def going to try a couple of batches this tear and see how it goes.

Sounds like a plan @scholland @hillman, really intrested in the pasture day, but very doubtfull i would be able to make it.

While your on, what sort of rainfall do you two guys get, not much info out there for mob grazing on wet land like ours, guess you will get a fair rainfall @hillman
We get 1200mm Google says but might be bit less than that here as we're beside a hill which shifts some of it.
Won't be rotational grazing in the wettest winter months as stock will be in or on the links. How to use it to improve pasture and grass utilisation. Hopefully reduce fert too.
