Our hot water at this time of year is quite... Hot! I allow the DHW tank to run higher than usual when the solar PV is topping up.

my work gear would be fine as it needs a pretty sterilising temp most of the time

Problem for someones polyester thong tho i guess, it could come out like a crispy piece of bacon rind off a barbecue

needs to be a resurgence of the old fashioned type of twin inlet machines i should think, with drain off or recirculating bit of plumbing ect to ensure its hot water from the start instead of cool in the pipework.
ours has a hot tap/basin close to the washing machine inlet so could simply run it to prime whilst putting the clothes in the machine ,back when there was hot and cold inletr required we never used to bother with that because we had an older rayburn with a smaller boiler as well. now the one we got gets too hot at times, especially on good dry wood and add solar thermal into the mix ,well....the hot pipe work is still there ,with a petcock on it .
