Is it not more to do with several plants across U.K / Europe being off line pushing up demand globally. Our wood pellet supplier had stopped taking on new customers before xmas due to this reason. Bound to be other reasons other than what the price of straw is doing.
Fresh Sawdust is up to £30/t collected now, up almost £8/t in a short time. Local pellet manufacturer buying the lot.

Our quote for G30 was that price collected! With the price rise its been interesting comparing haulage quotes! Its worth us paying more for haulage than before to get a cheaper product.

What moisture content are they selling at? as this has a large impact on the price. No point in buying cheaper if you are just paying for water

As in 40% MC!? Can your boiler take that?

No, or to be more precise, I didn't try it, just spread it out on the floor to dry, they were happy not to have to pick it up so I got a dry load pronto

Get what you can while you can cos the price is going up and demand is now massive. I think that both industrial pellets and virgin whole tree chip will soon be up towards the price of white chip and pellets, especially for larger boilers over 500kw.

When it gets beyond £250 per tonne my pellet plant will come out of mothballs.

Pull out the mothballs fast!! Verdo Euro are now over £300/t!! Seems to be a national shortage, most suppliers are out of stock of wood pellets today!! I wish I filled my shed with pellets not wheat. They are up 50% on what I paid in September!
