Indeed, I often remark to anyone who will bother to listen to me that if you make a list of the top 10 most important things in life I can pretty much guarantee that money will not be on that list.............think about it.........
Very true. Some friends of mine and I discussed a while back what we would do if the end was nigh.

All of us decided we would head down to the local pub, have a few beers, sing a few songs and share the crack with our mates, It’s what makes life worth living. Everything else is mere decoration.

There are successful London types near here that put their blood sweat and tears into things, purely to end up with what we have- a few acres and a few animals. I may wake up at 3.30 to milk other people’s cows but I still think I’m living the dream.

Fudge companies. The UK should adopt the Nordic model and have a better life for its citizens.
That,s the point, reducing corporate tax is better for citizens, it provides better profits to shareholders who are most often citizens, and better profits also lead to better investments and better wages all around better for it's citizens.
Don't the Nordic countries have an effective tax rate of 80%?

No way, the UK has been pandering to big business for far too long. A LOT of big corporations don't even pay a fair tax on their UK activities as it is.

Absolutely the Nordic countries have stiff rates of taxation across the board. They have greater spending too. People are happier as a result. I've no problem with that and think the UK would do well to move toward their model. The one we have now is broken. Even Germany and France have parts of their societies aligned in the same way. The UK went too far during Thatcher's time and has got too far like the USA.

So if it was £30 per ha it would be nothing to a multithousand poultry unit on 5 aces but could ruin a hill farm with 3000 acres of moorland.

So then you need to set up a government department to map, register assess and allow people to appeal, all costing millions of pounds.

All to collect a few hundred quid off your average farmer.

Why not save the expense and be honest and just stick it on income tax?
because land owner's seem to get out of paying income tax

I think you will find that the man on the street pays a lot less tax than when Labour were in government. You also know that just because a farmer is asset rich it doesn't mean to say he is making a lot of money.
well it is not the man on the streets problem if a business man can not make money.
if the business men force the man on the street to work for nothing .
the man on the street will have nothing to buy the business mans product

it seem's a lot are missing the fact that in 2008 your govt bailed out your biggest business's .
and the banks gave the hand that bailed them the finger.
now which side of the house did the bailing ,
and which side of the house did any thing to stop the bailing
