Handler stabilisers

Does anyone know if HSE have a view on using a farm handler for a building project if it doesn’t have the front outriggers? We’ve done it before, machine is tested and operator licensed, but someone recently told me that this isn’t enough. Majority of the use is on the farm but we’re also putting new sheds up so occasionally we’ll lift beams etc.

You could ask your insurers. I would have thought if it was being used within it's designed operating parameters you should be OK.

I was always under the impression the front outriggers where for the larger capacity / longer reach of the construction machine. Not because the machine is lifting bags of sand instead of fertiliser but I may be wrong.

Shouldn’t be any issues with it, not all handlers on construction sites have stabilisers either, they’re usually only fitted to machines above 9m reach.
