Harvest 2023

What we've usually found here is that, once it starts sprouting, even if not very many visible, the grain will naturally do its utmost never to dry out again.
Not sprouting.
Yet.
Trying to drizzle all morning sun came out about 5.
My thumb nail test suggests early/mid 20's.
Really don't understand how some parts of the country MC drops so rapidly! The number of times I read "Had 10ml this morning but got going by teatime at 17%"
Might try some oats tomorrow first.

Looks like for the first time ever the grain drier won't be used in OSR. Been between 6.5 and 9 all week - 1 day left then maybe wheat.
Started OSR today, slightly concerned that it might be over 9%. Turns out it was 6.4, with hot sun forecast for tomorrow, not ideal.

Expect it is probably similar here. No real bite in the grain at all. More like the texture of a stale hobnob.

Will probably need the whole day tomorrow to dry it down…and then more rain due on Fri/Sat.
went over and checked at 4 and it was 20-21% so cut enough to fill the drier up, ended up in the middle of the field 16/17% so pleased I started, will push on tomorrow.

That’s good news, glad it went well for you. Impressive to have dried 10% during the afternoon.

Was still fairly soft here at 6ish. Fingers crossed the heat tomorrow will pull it down.

Yes was very surprised, although chatting to a neighbour and he found the same, it is rotten ripe though!!
