Here in the middle of France combines would normally be rolling next week, but it's been a funny old season with just 21mm of rain in April, then a cold wet May [69mm]. The first week of June saw 20 mm followed by a week of scorching heat. Finally thunderstorms and 67 mm in the last 7 days, so there is now quite a bit of flat wheat and I don't see much chance of anything until the end of the month. As my old Dorset neighbour once remarked, "I ain't never knowed a time like it."
Here in northern Italy barley harvest would normally have started 3 weeks ago, but this year I saw the first combine only yesterday. Wheat is now getting ready fast under this 35°+ heat.
Quite a late year everywhere it seems.

I have a field of winter barley that’s full of may weed and it’s right on a main road (not even a hedge round it🤦🏻‍♂️🤬) starting to get sick of looking the bloody stuff so may spray it off next week. So think I’ll be starting in about a fortnight 😂

Had this yesterday afternoon…..did not want to go look at crops as thought they’d be flat on the

I think it’ll be a late start here.
Very mixed bag here.

The shale, which was in full ear and dying back before the drought broke, will go next week but the clay, which utilised the rain much better, is three weeks later and more than double the crop.

And some of each in every field.

Here in the middle of France, just driving along, it looks as though OSR is ready and the winter barley is well necked over BUT it won't stop raining. 87 mm since 17th, and rain on 10 out of the last 14 days. Some flat wheat and its all starting to turn a nasty dark brown colour. No doubt Macron will say its all the fault of the Brits for leaving...........
