at last a blueish sky a light drying breeze so after the last 3 1/2 days in combine lockdown we may be able to have another go when the dew lifts and finish the autumn sown wheat and move on to the sp barley which hopefully by the time we get there will come in reasonably dry

Tried to get going in spring barley here this evening again after Sunday’s rain, and won’t feed too chewy, hope for a brighter day tomorrow.
I did ask Roger if you were going. He said you were going to try this afternoon.
Hope tomorrow goes well for you .

Never even started here, far to wet, both grain and ground.

Kept going last night till midnight combine getting hot radiator full of barley awns plus crew tired ,up like larks (drier on trying to catch up))this morning only to find we have had a shower which will put us back Hoped to have finished current field and moved 12 miles before lunch .An oil pipe to replace on tractor as leaking Having not had sp barley here for years am relatively happy with the yield from this re sown following ww washed out in the spring and a fair swath of straw which is sold by weight off the field

They couldn’t afford Mrs B!

Bad news, today.

It's an attractive job.

So much so that I offered to do it for 5 years fee-free - it would have been fun for, amongst other things, I'm pretty hot stuff at dealing with difficult autumns, ambitious game-keepers and wet harvests.

Unfortunately, they put my (freely disclosed) history of stressful events, including the 2020 harvest, current lifestyle, etc , etc, in to the usual search engines and found my life expectancy to be -3.7yrs.
