18/08/2019 To cut a long story short.. I went on a hike up Slieve Bernagh.. on the way up I caught up with a group of walkers who were chatting away while theirdog chased a flock of sheep.. I spoke to them and pointed out the dog was not allowed to do this and to be careful as it cld get shot.. the lady laughed and said I think we’re safe enough I don’t see anyone with a gun.. she called her dog back and I passed them and kept walking.. 5 minutes later the same dog passed me and was again chasing a flock of sheep.. I waited for the group and offered the lady a lead.. which she already had one in her hand.. I again told her to put her dog on a lead.. she told me she wld stick to what she was doing and I shld do the same ?? I pointed out the sheep’s welfare, the fines imposed and danger of her dog getting put to sleep and was basically told to mind my own.. I told her I’d videos her dog and she shook her head.. so here we are.. the power of social media.. who I know is BBC producer Jane Mcmurran and her dog Tommy enjoying their day at the mournes and giving responsible dog owners a bad name.. poor dog ?? At what point do people realise this lack of respect will put an end to us all enjoying the mournes..
