What are people wearing on their heads at the moment the old beanie isn't cutting it at the moment, especially on the quad bike, needs to be light warm doesn't impede vision
Ideally water proof, fudging cold this morning in the snow.

Wax farmer cap

Look a bit of a twit but it is warm and waterproof

It's that funny time of the year when old baldy here thinks it's mild enough not to wear a hat and then walks back in and finds one!

Woolly beanies too hot for anything but the coldest weather. My favourite Le Chameau fleece beanie is better but when you sweat it won't wick away. When I was last near Mum and Dad's I stopped at Tincknells at Wells and bought two dark olive waxed baseball style caps and they are pretty good. I've worn them a few times but I've also tried to keep them free of oil and sh!te as I can wear them for best instead of my Rocha dark grey wool beanie. I think they were £9 each

With very little hair now found this does the job, waterproof and fur lined can't beat having warm ears

I have a Machiavelli leather hat in that sort of style. It's great but I made the mistake of buying it slightly too tight to stop it flying off in the wind. The trouble is I get a sweat band if I start working in it.

I'm thinking the way forward may be an Oz style one with mesh around the sides for work

Folks with hair have no idea how tricky this issue is!

I have similar issues, having long straight hair, hats just pop off the top of my head, I do not suffer with a cold head or ears, so would wear something to stop me turning into a 'crystal tips' lookalike, or my finest dragged through a hedge impression.
I have recently become a hoody convert. It is a kind of having your gloves on string idea, there if you need it, and you dont keep loosing it either. Win win.

You've got great hair for keeping your ears from getting cold. I reckon the safest way for me to always have my gloves on a string idea would be to back comb my ear hair but then the slightest puff of wind and there you have my Rab C look-a-like

I often go out for a whole day and pop in the shops on my way round. I try to wash my boots in the ford on the way in but often forget I'm wearing the complete Compo outfit so I try to wear something half tidy on my bonce.

I wear baseball cap for casual, tweed flat cap for smart rural and then one of those Australian leather cowboy hats in Summer.

I would highly recommend ear mitts, which look a bit special but work great.

At least now I'm single I don't get the "you're not going out in that, are you?" and now I have a tractor with a cab with glass and more headroom I can choose an amazing array of head wear should I choose - even a Dave Allen papal hat if I so chose

Rab C .... ffs [emoji23] I think I let a little go...
I've had alopecia since the age of 7... so I'm a bit of a hat man at times.
Have settled on a thin fleece Swazi beanie as still being breathable enough when those sweats happen
Good old towelling bucket hat, looks stoopid but who sees, and it beats sunburnt ears/neck like a cap gets you, or a big brown D shape on the back of your dome.
Have invested in an Under Armour balaclava for cold days when your ears feel like they have ice plugs in them, handy for holding the phone when old mate is on for a yarn all day and you need hands. None fashionable mind

My mother gave me a very posh West End tweed cap as a Christmas present nearly twenty years ago, it is still going strong - although you can only feel a nap on the sheltered bit above the peak. Had lots of cheapy hats before that didn't last so, as often seems to be the case, you get what you pay for, or are given.

Anyway that cap's warm in the dry of drizzle, but when it's wet I use a leather slouch hat. When it's wet and windy I have a hood over the slouch hat and the drawstring pulled tight. When it's wet and too windy for that to work, I go back to the yard and do something useful in a shed...
