Bought myself a little Massey 135 today.
Been stood for a couple of years and was yard scraping before that for roughly 5 years.
I don't know much about these tractors and which variations are worth more or less.
She's on a N registration with a straight axle and dry air cleaner . Has a pick up hitch as well.
The engine runs perfectly . Clutch was stuck but freed off after runing for a bit but the brakes are non exsistant.
Bonnet is very straight and tidy but the cab is scrap really and wants chucking off in my mind.
Wheels and tyres want changing
Gave £1500 for it

I've no idea if the price was right .
The question is should I sell here on or do it up . Could'nt resist pulling it apart this afternoon and ordering the parts for the brakes ( suppose I've answered my own question)
What they worth when done up as the brake parts are £250

Can't believe you wouldn't make a profit either way. 35s and 135s seem to do mega money, poor old little grey ones less so. I'm no expert mind !

What do the brakes need that cost £250?

Be very wary of doing it up, these tractors are now often worth more money in their original condition. The world is full of restored 135s!

So you will probably want to get everything working as it should; but otherwise I would leave alone a full restoration for now, listen to others opinions and then weigh up what is the best to do with your tractor.

The reason for buying the tractor is to supply work for our apprentise when I physically can't be with him watching every move he makes on tractors worth £50,000.
The idea is working as I had a meeting yesterday sorting out our insurance for the next 12 months in which time he had removed the brakes and one hell of a lot of dried cow muck..
We've just started to renovate a Case 1594 for myself don't know if I need a 135 as well.

If you decide to chuck the cab, don't forget to keep the supporting member as it will save you buying a roll frame. Wish I'd kept mine!

Be careful. Even when you replace the parts, the brakes will not be up to the standard of a modern tractor. First time on the road with my "new" 135 a couple of weeks ago, I almost found this the hard way. At a cross-roads, a pratt in an Audi TT went across as I approached from the side road. He realised he had missed his turn so did an emergency stop then reversed at speed around the junction into the side road I was on. Standing on the brakes of my 135 didn't do a lot, even with new shoes. I very nearly put a 135 shaped dent in the back of his silly toy.
