It a total different world making hay in Oxford as in Scotland, far dryer air and ground. Guys around here with massive pure Timothy and massive crops must dread hay time every year. They will be at it for six weeks and into harvest time this year.

Turned the crap hay from yesyerdays picture, it had been turned once last Monday then 5 days of occasional drizzle. No difficulty spotting which bits I had already done.

I'm about 20 miles south west-ish of Oxford, I hardly think the cloud and rain thats been travelling rapidly from west to east past me all week has suddenly transformed into sunshine and 20 degrees at Faringdon.
That explains it . Hes 20 miles North East
But talking about rain . 3 times last Sunday we tried to mow and it rained as soon as we went in the field . Half a mile down’t road twas dry

Trouble with the rain we are getting is that it's enough to spoil haymaking but not enough to do any good . I cut 34 acres yesterday . Will see how weather evolves as to what I do with it .

Some must be making hay , I've just had a message to say my hay is ready to collect, Oxford way , and no wise cracks he dont make bad hat

it’s so localised and really catchy showers , one farm can get rained off but a mile up the road brilliant sunshine. Unfortunately the forecasts don’t go to that level of detail. And then there is always that one farmer that the sun always shines on ?
