Will just be feeding them to the cows as wellBloody hell I'd want £100 a piece for them bales .
Hope the damage was just the mirror arm And exhaust pipe as hopefully the loader saved the tractor? No,bales fell on it in a storm in winter?View attachment 890056

Apart from my Timothy hay which is all sold,I have chopped all my 1st cut . Gone to dairy farms . No point adding to the mountain of fodder that did not sell last year and with grass up to your eye balls now the mountain can only get higher , you see how then you cant predict the market . Your short, we have to much
Lovely photo .
Does it make any difference as they are so tightly baled , we tend ease the pressure off hay , let it breathe .Will just be feeding them to the cows as well
I always think hay made quickly in a heatwave is dangerous stuff. Best wrapped.
You've got some big acres SimonView attachment 890231
Cut this on Tuesday, turned once on Wednesday and Rowed up and baled on Thursday ( yesterday) the moisture meter on the baler rarely went above 8% ( 8% is the lowest it can read ) and the max it read was 16%. In a normal year it would normally max out on the odd wet lump but this year there wasn’t any. The average was 8% so effectively so dry that it couldn’t be read properly. It averaged 50 decent sized conventional bales per acre.
Different world with you. Lovely big fields? We average about 5 acre fields so lots of headland bales.View attachment 890231

Is yield down a lot. 100 is more a usual yield?
I slackened the pressure off in centre slightly but I don’t like soft bales....if it goes like tobacco in the centre I won’t be too worried...the cows will fight over itDoes it make any difference as they are so tightly baled , we tend ease the pressure off hay , let it breathe .
