Hay Making 2020

As a horse husband I’ve enjoyed reading the threads on hay making on 5 acre fields and the stresses and costs involved. Having survived another year of predicting the weather and stacking them in the heat we are finished. But our organic crop is over 20% down this year. What have others found and are we in for a shortage this winter?

Hay crops cut up to now have seen a reduced yield yes but current rain will bulk up crops but also reduce quality. Most horses are overfed so only need belly fill for a fibre source. FB is awash with horse hay mostly at £3.50 or £25 for rounds from what i have seen.
