Hay tedders and ridge and furrows

Can you run a 6m hay tedder in the "furrow" of a "ridge and furrow" field with the rotors working at an angle up the ridge on both sides? Can the frames and gears take the loading? Is there a manufacturer that is better than the others? It is all very good seeing videos of these machines working in flat fields but not all our fields are flat!! Is there another technique for driving, if we go across the ridges the link arms cannot keep up and the tedder will be digging in or tedding fresh air!

They do have a fair degree of articulation so my guess would be 'yes', not tried it though, do have a 6m tedder (Kverneland) but no ridge-and-furrow!

On our ridge and furrow field we cross rather than follow the furrows. That's with a 7.7 metre claas.
Seems ok if you drive steady.
Doing it the other way I find that some rotors are digging in too much.

Never had a problem with either a Lely 6.75m or 7.70m six rotor tedder, on some fairly deep ridge and furrow land. I always go along the line of the furrows, not across.

We do a lot of ridge and furrow and a bit of flat.

Running a claas 770 now, were using a lely 600 before.

No probs really, we run with the ridges or at a slight 30 degree angle.

The wings will articulate upwards well but not so good downwards but will do a bit.

Sometimes struggle to get full width moved so have to overlap and sometimes only take 4 or 5 metres but generally can take full width most of time.

To make sure its all moved we do ted it once across ways at some point to make sure it's been moved - normally send dad out to do that one as its a bit slower.........!!!!!!!
