Heater control (vw)

VW (in my experience of Amarok and Golf) can never be set to a temperature that I am comfortable driving at.

My Amarok is Lo or 18degrees (then higher) .
Is there anyway to reset to give a minimum of say around 12 degrees?? Ie is this something an auto electrician could easily adjust / set?

Our Tiguan is the same, it’s 18 or LO.
It really should have temps of 16, 15 and 14 as options: plus the windscreen demisting function is absolutely useless!

Apart from this it really is a good, solid and well made vehicle.
The heater flaps probably needing recalibrating I will try and find a YouTube video

The only "solution" I can think of would be to trick the system into thinking the cabin temperature is warmer than it actually is. When the climate control system is in Auto mode with the temperature set to 18'c, it will allow cooler air into the cabin.

Someone wants to set their car to 14 degrees? Really? Take your coat off and set the auto climate to 20 like any normal person😂. It will also be much easier to steer with less layers on
Will also help with demisting the screen. Never going to demist below 18

Fit an auxiliary thermostat to switch your A/C compressor magnetic clutch.

Set the in-car stat to LO (it becomes a slave system) and then your auxiliary stat has control of your A/C cooling function.

You're ac will likely be set to min 16 deg as is most cars, pickups tractors etc. I assume below this temp leads to issues elsewhere in the system like freezing up and not working altogether. Quite why you need it any cooler than this i don't know.

Early systems have an over-temp cutout on the condenser side, not the cold side, and no adjustable thermostat as such, just a cabin on/off switch.
