Heating hot water

Just going back onto eod collections
We are picked up around 11am normally.
we have solar.
what is the cheapest way to heat the water given we only have a 24hr time clock.? Our hot water tank does have a jacket but is old.
I know this seems a trivial matter but very penny matters currently.

We have heat recovery so have a tank of 60 degree water which we use to fill the tank washer boiler using a switch like the one below. Turn on 2 or 3 hours before tanker time.
In the solar situation can you use the "surplus" leccy to heat a tank of hot water, again ready to fill the tank washer ?
I think there is a controllers that will do that. Immersun is one I`ve heard of, there will be others.

I bought one of these early this year brilliant I'm not sure on the payback as there's not much difference in my economy 7 tariff.
But 1, it saves a lot of hassle having to remember to switch the immersion on the night before.
2 where the saving is to be had, I set it to go on with just enough time so that it is at temp just as the water is needed. Our discussion group had an afternoon on energy saving. Too many people put their tanks to come on as soon as economy 7 switches over, which is too early as the tank is cycling on and off for keeping the temp of the tank at the desired level for hours on end. Put it to come on later and save a few quid.

Get some batteries for your panels, there’s a 25% grant currently for solar and batteries. We get cheap night electric too, so will charge the batteries with that in winter
