Hedging spirals

...urgent!
I have run out of the clear spirals I'm using for my hedging whips. However I have loads of dark brown opaque ones. Will these do? They don't let any light in through the sides obviously but does this matter? Thanks

Just put 900odd in and supplier told me spirals are no longer used and it’s all opaque tubes.sure you might find some on eBay.i preferred the spirals but I’m sure the tubes will be fine.they are slit from top to bottom to expand with growth.

You could always buy the biodegradable ones, someone gave me some last year, a snip at about £3 each.

One year on, look pretty good.

I have planted lots of hedges here without any spirals are they necessary?
I’m guessing and allways thought spirals or tubes were used with a cane for support fir a few years to train the plants upwards.lots of what I’ve planted this year,I’m sure would flop about in a wind and the hawthorns need the support.tubes are handy too when spraying roundup around the bases to protect the plant

Whereabouts are you. I think I have a spare box (maybe two) that I never used. Foc if you want them as I’ll just chuck them out some time.

North Beds. Like an idiot, I totally forgot about guards . Now I find I need 1800 to finish the job. I do have the brown ones though and I’m hoping someone can tell me if these will be OK…or not. Thanks

They’re there if you can arrange collection. :)

There are two boxes (can’t remember whether that’s 200 or 400 without getting them out & counting) and a box of canes to go with them.
