Heifer In-calf testing

OK so I think our scanner is coming on Sunday to scan the ewes. I normally get her to put a hand up heifers and tell me if they are in calf and, if so, how many weeks.

This year I think one of my heifers will only be 29 days in calf. Is it worth her handing her and is there any losing calf risk if she does this early in pregnancy?

Not being funny but if you only have a couple of heifers and you've not seen them bulling then I wouldn't be too bothered about scanning them tbh.
I've had problems with the 29 day heifer and want her scanned to be sure - if she ain't she'll be sold prompto through sale ring feed only.

^^^ That wasn't meant to sound so condesending. What I was trying to say is that if you had 20/30/50 heifers you wouldn't know what was going on so scanning would be important but with just two you will have a good idea if they're in calf or not.

I never took it that way at all and knew exactly what u meant. I wouldn't worry if it wasn't for the 29 day heifer. Haven't been able to tell she was bulling, put a bull in with her and he served her frequently but she wouldn't stand for him - then she came back to the bull. Have a different bull and I think he successfully served her on 18th November. She's clear now days wise but I'd just like to be sure.
