Heptavac P+ giving lambs 2nd dose late (8 not 6 wks after 1st dose)

For a variety of reasons (incl bereavement), my lambs haven't yet had their 2nd dose of Heptavac. They had their first dose on 3rd July, so I'm now nearly 2 weeks late with their 2nd dose. Would you just give them the 2nd dose now and consider them done? Or should I effectively start again, ignore the fact that they had a dose 8wks ago, and give them a dose now and then another 4-6wks?

Any words of wisdom appreciated. And yes, I know just giving the 2nd dose at the right time is what I *should* have done. :(

As @bovine says. I'd say it's well worth the risk, rather than "wasting" an extra dose - Heptavac is getting plenty dear enough as it is now.
Being a bit of a tight @rse myself, I've had 2 injection guns on the go this year - she lambs with Heptavac, he lambs with Ovivac(25% cheaper).I reckon it's cheaper than having to re vaccinate she lambs kept for breeding.

Seeing as lamb price is up, I've been throwing caution to the wind. Sorting my smaller lambs to a separate field today, I've given them a second dose of Ovivac P+ this year. Just call me Moneybags. What's the betting there'll be one dead in a couple of days?:banghead:

Replacement lambs, also seperated ready for shearing & jabs today, had Heptavac P+ as their second dose (& a primary jab).

Ha! and there I was feeling a bit hopeless because mine will only be getting their second dose (on time) tomorrow after waiting to get over orf early on and followed by a frantic "no time" period. I did wonder about just not doing them at all this year a sit got so late but, am I right in thinking that a "challenge" period is coming up in the next few weeks?

Yes, the heavy dews late Sept & Oct are killers. Dad was always a last minute chap and it was a pain to find a best ewe lamb dead and 'then' vacc. them. I'm late this year as well, normally vacc when the ram lambs are drawn but intend to do them when drawing drafts in the next fortnight. Wean them later and second dose then.
