Heptavac Storage

The Wife bought 500ml of heptavac yesterday at about 3.30 and left it in the car all night! [emoji35]. It’s 7 degrees outside at the moment but don’t know what it was yesterday tea time last night.
Would you still use it - £163!!

Your ment to keep it at 5 degrees. I'm sure it will be fine . It didn't freeze or get properly warm.

It wont this weather, it started off cold from fridge, and the box will help for a few hours too, and being a killed vaccine it will be less vulnerable by a long way, than would a live one.

i doubt it wouldve, its coolergenerally now , use today or tomorrow. will be ok ir.

i think possibly people do forget about the transporting it in a vehicle part of keeping it cool though.

Just found the data from a weather station about 15 miles away and it doesn’t look like it went over 8 degrees so should be fine

I wouldn't worry too much, there will be safety factors built into the product handling detail. Positive is a lesson learnt - done the same here previously but in late spring, used it then proceeded to procrastinated over possible results for a few weeks........ very happy to say there was no noticeable difference from other years thankfully.

Really I dont know much about fa these days . I put one in the fridge sometime ago after a coversation with a mvf meds counter person, besides that I get something useful for my money from there.


Quite surprising what temp yer fridge is

...and It's actually quite Interesting how temp in yer fridge varies actually ...... it raises a bit when the doors opened to get out the milk, or cheese or a beer ..etc......

We were reminded, on our ‘how to use meds’ course, again for (Feckin) FA, that you shouldn’t put vacccines at the back of the fridge (too cold), in the door (too warm), at the bottom (too cold), or at the top (to warm). By my reckoning, that just about leaves a sweet spot right in the centre of the fridge that will just about hold a small bottle of Heptavac P+.

The supply chain is temperature controlled all the way to the point that the farmer (or his wife in this case) picks it up and leaves it sat in the car/truck/quad or on the windowsill.

They laugh at me at the vets when i turn up with a cool box with an ice block in it to collect vaccine. But at close to a grand a time I'm not taking any chances. Straight home and in the fridge
