My 2002 Hilux has an engine fault and we can't work out what it is ! Fault codes are not getting to the root of the issue ! Before I send it to the main dealer as our local independent guy is very busy at the moment anyone have any ideas ? The problem is it won't start without a bit of easy start and once you get it going you have to keep it revving or it goes into limp mode and the fault light comes on, when running it is putting lots of black, sooty smoke out (overfuelling ? ) Taking injectors out tomorrow to get checked or has anyone got any other ideas ? TIA

Taking it to a dealer who can pinpoint the fault without spending unnecessary time and money will be cheaper.

Or who will the first thing they think wil fix it and when it doesnt moe on to the next, without of course refunding the parts that arent needed

I find non main dealers are best at that, a friend who's ST fiesta wouldn't pass a MOT due to warning light, had lots of bits added by the garage and then an auto electrician, turned out to be a ABS sensor wire fault (found by the Ford main dealer)... it gave the strangest of symptoms and error codes... he did recall pressure washing under-neath before the test afterwards!

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
