Home built trailer

Been offered a home built flatbed trailer 14ft ifor style to tow behind 4x4. It's well made and solid enough though needs stripping down and a bit of tlc, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience of whether needs testing or not seems a bit of a grey area. We had one years ago used to tow behind a u1650 mog was a cut down seven and a half tonne tipper chassis, was a nightmare to tow as it rolled about something chronic when loaded, don't remember this ever being inspected.
