Home made log splitter!!!"

I have a couple of hydraulic rams which are suitable for making log splitter and an old
Lister D engine which has been family owned from new so is it possible to drive hydraulic pump using 4 inch flat belt or would it slip when under load

It's possible to drive a hydraulic pump with 4" flat belt assuming that you can get the tension and gearing right, but I suspect that Lister is likely to be somewhat under powered to be a practical solution.

Put lister log splitter on YouTube there’s some awesome homemade jobs on there none that I’ve seen powering a hydraulic ram but it made me think how much better there ideas were. I find it painfully slow splitting with the big hydraulic need around 3 people to go at any pace one feeding and holding in place one operating and one stacking. I’ve got a lister d and a jap myself should probably get around to doing something with (y)

Thanks for reply
A screw type splitter is a better idea and the actual screw is available on eBay but doubtful the lister D is up to the job
