Homemade subsoiler

Here is a few pics of a subsoiler I have started to put together. It's using shakeaerator legs and a frame made from 100x100x8 mm box. I got a friend d to weld it up with his mig, after tacking the frame together. Disks and roller parts still to be made and added.

What is the correct torque for the shear bolts I have 3/4 unf thread shear bolts fitted.

But if I was to build one I would make the 3 point linkage frame wider at the bottom bit like a flat topped triangle but that’s me
Will be grand pulling straight but sideways maybe a bit weak could stick a bit of box section on an angle to help the sideway stresses

We made something similar last year out of our old blench subsoiler.
Ours has seven legs (3metres wide) and has been a great bit of kit so far.
We used the subsoiler depth wheels to set the depth. How do you intend to control the depth?

What is the correct torque for the shear bolts I have 3/4 unf thread shear bolts fitted.

They should be 5/8 UNF with special washers. The manual is on McConnels website which has the torque figures.

I'm going to make a roller from heavy wall tubing about 18 inch in diameter well that's the plan anyway. I don't think you would turn much with the design of the leg the tip is out s good bit in front of the rest of the leg.

Shear bolts need to be put through from top down,so when they shear the nut fires into the ground not the air.
