I learnt the hard way never to trust a farmer part exchanging a tractor. Two instances specifically spring to mind, which I won't go into.
Is buying or selling at auction another matter? At my local scrap sale they ask if a machine is in working order when you enter it and this is given out during the sale. A tidy looking haybob was returned after the last auction because it was described as being in working order but the gears were stripped.yes i would tell of faults....buy or sell at auction is another matter

It's a collective sale I'm talking about, held at the market. Maybe it's just their own policy.never heard that before....not round here.....if you go to a genuine dispersal chances are kit is ok....but 'included by permission' or at collective sales it's buyer beware IME

Some places it's strictly sold as seen. Others, notably York, if it says gwo as declared by the vendor then it must be and you have 3 days to lodge a complaint. It's a collective sale I'm talking about, held at the market. Maybe it's just their own policy.
Everything sold at auction has to be "as described" although there's still a lot of scope:
As seen
When last used was OK
Working order
Good working order
I suspect most auctioneers have their own variations
The term "cubicle housed, herringbone milked" always makes me smile. Lots of cubicle housed cows don't lie in the cubicles, and I've know plenty of herringbone milked cows that can be right bitches!
I might write a book on the subject when I'm retired. Think I'd trust QF further than some farmers I dealt with. The odd TFF member includedI learnt the hard way never to trust a farmer part exchanging a tractor. Two instances specifically spring to mind, which I won't go into.
