Does anyone have experience with trying the Bourgault coulters (from Martin Lishman) on a Horsch CO4 / Sprinter.? The standard duet coulter moves so much soil, we are looking for less disturbance for drilling wheat & barley into min till. Have read of Dutch Openers (?) on here but not sure of their merits, or exactly what they are

I have been using Dutch openers, no idea on the bourghault, we had a triple press on bourghaults, they did a good job but wore out fast. The Dutch points are very good and incredibly durable, the only trouble they have given is planting un husked spelt which kept bridging, it is known to be a sod though. Drill is for sale if you want one already converted

Hi Soilsaver,

What kind of soil are you on? Do you think they move much less soil than the duet, and is the seeding depth ok?

Soil very variable between clays to gravel to light chalk, drilling fairly consistent depth, use different points for type of drilling some off shelf some home made.drill easier to pull ,duets go 50mm deeper than you need hence move more soil made leg adaptation myself, point angle critical ,power vs penetration.
