Just purchased a 3m grain fert and drilled some on Friday, on a nh t7 235 so have no bother pulling it , have an issue with the fan speed dropping when lifting the drill and lift at the headlands . Have two reruns pipes coming in just at the return which is 3/4 straight into the backend . Have the male fitting on the tractor and female on the drill will swapping them make any difference. Going to try it on the jd 6920s tomorrow to see if there is any difference.

We have the same drill(pulled by a NH 7.210 or MF6490),fan drops maybe 500-1000rpm at the ends but makes no difference to drilling as the rpm recovers as soon as the you release the spool,we have ran ours for 8 yrs and never been an issue,we tend to run ours at the higher end of the rpm,3750.The drilling depth is easily set and the cultivation discs you just run at whatever is making the best job.Simple drill to use after you have done a few acres.

Thanks , running the fan around the same , what had me worried is the fan nearly stops altogether although the alarm (set at 2000) doesn't come on , running one black clip in the coulters on ploughed pressed ground would min till be roughly the same .

I'm only running a grain only drill so can get away with lower fan speed, have you got a valve on the drill to adjust the fan speed or do you have to control the fan speed on the tractor spools?

Just alter the flow to the spool, you have to do a bit of adjusting to get the lift/cultivation hyd. speed right so you don't affect the fan speed to much but never had any issues. The only downfall we find is it struggles a bit for cultivation in some of our heavier land but a run with paddle rollers in front is usually enough.

Thanks lads have the oil set very low on the tractor spool for the fan , might try slowing down the coulter ram to , it might be different on the jd will know tomorrow, heard about a man with an amazone and when he reduced the oil flow on the drill it sorted the problems so if I can reduce it on the drill I might be ok

Another wee tip ensure on a cold day or indeed any day that the back end oil is well warmed up. The first year with ours left a few spaces doh:banghead:

Yes always drop in early and speed up slowly so the metering can keep with the speed change. I'm running a front press this year and it's doing a good job
