Horsch Terrano 3 FX

Today I had a look at my latest purschase - a used Horsch Terrano 3 FX. Even though it is a very simple design I still have one question for other Terrano users, it is about the depth settings...

My Terrano has manual depth settings, in other words I manually put clips on the connector rod between the frame and the packer. Since I am going to run the Terrano quite deep, the packer will hang in the air when I deattach it from the tractor if I do not change the clips from "working position".

Is it ok to completely remove the clips from the back side and not putting them on in the front side... In other words having the packer in a "float" mode until it hits the right depth?

Thats the way i run mine with the packer floating.

If you leave packer in "float" the weight of it doesn't help to push cultivator in.
I always keep the packer clipped up and unhook on soft ground so that cultivator pulls in until the packer sits on the floor.

Thanks for the replies guys, right now it stands on a wooden block and I guess that is OK... but I think I will try it in float and if it goes down without problems I guess it works.

I bought the Horsch because I hope I will be able to make a really deep cultivation. The leaflet says 30 cm... my plan is to put on 40 mm points and remove the wing shares. I have a pretty rough 25-30 cm of top soil and the sub soil beneath is very hard...

How deep do you guys think I can go?
