We have 2 Multi Power 500s here. Great for what we need but the actual Multi Power has to be the worst clutchless splitter of its generation. Dual Power, Power Synchron, Torque Amplifier at aĺ don't have the nonsense of running away in low but then braking in reverse high to the extent you have to knock it down into low to get it out of gear. Who thought that was a good idea?
The entire point of multi power is that you can change down whilst pulling uphill
Yes there are other better splitter gears around but they were not available in the early 60s
I have 3 tractors with multi power and have never had any problems driving any of them

You can change down up hill with the others though? We don't have a problem driving them but you have to point out to any new driver the "idiosyncrasies".

Absolutely lethal tractor on hilly ground with inexperienced driver having to change into higher gear going down hill especially with forager and trailer on behind was crazy and in some models no decent brakes or Pto engagement As for buck raking in silage not easy changing gear in high v much overrated

The three worst I have come across are a Nuffield 4/60 a Leyland 154 and a MF 3655. On the subject of multi-power I worked on a farm one summer where previously they had an unpopular manager who rarely drove tractors for one reason or other one day he had to drive a MF 590 with a large trailer he was advised by a helpful employee that multipower would slow him down when going down hill 3 miles later he managed to stop the tractor

Cant complain about the 600 series here. Although some did rot like snow off the ditch.
Keep them in doors

Not many 600s left today that tidy, obviously been well cared for. They were damn good tractors apart from the curse of the cab and rear wings rusting away so easily. Just shows that they can be kept looking well with the right care and maintenance.

MF 595 mk1. Had to split it to change the transmission oil filter. Probably split it self before it needed changing anyway!

JD 8430 artic 8 wheeler. So thirsty you daren’t park it by the diesel tank at night. It’d all be gone by the morning.

Any of the MF 6100 series. gearboxes made of chocolate.

Leyland 285 (three times).... A beast when she was going right which was less than 5% of the time... I know the two people unlucky enough to be next in line to own our particular one, both cursed it very loudly for a fair while..

Deutz M620- unreliable, uncomfortable, awkward to use, gutless and would spin on a banana skin.

John Deere 6140R- Gutless, awkward numb big thing. Poor visibility.

Case 85/95 series- nothing wrong with the tractors as such but I hate the left hand gear sticks, awkward driving position and the big b pillar on the cab

I drove a URSUS 385 same as the ZETOR 8011 for a while. Not a nice machine at all :(
i used to own a c385 ursus i found it ok reliable would pull like hell just a shame the fan in the cab only made a noise after the leyland 344 we had before it was a dream that was the worse tractor i have ever owned by a long way the squark of the clutch pedal when depressed the ball ends that fell out the top link that kept shredding the thread on the nut in the middle had to have a new engine because of inter bridge cracking the pto that had to be modified so it didnt jump out of gear no power steering heavy as hell i could go on but life is too short oh i forgot the brakes they were sh!t or bust when it was new then bloody awful
