I had the same problem - on EE. Phoned them up and they connected me to wificalling for free, all sorted ever since.

I think it depends what phone you use on some network providers, Tesco use O2 who do have wificalling so it should be possible.

In the past I used an app called TuGo - this is infinitely times better.

how did the app work ? only on a monthly sim deal with Tesco and there local coverage has turned worse rather than better the last few months , bt are advertising a good deal with there sim deals at the moment , sick of people trying to get hold of me and the recorded message some times taking a day to contact you .

Works for incoming and outgoing on the Iphone. Brill in an area like ours with no signal in the village but 4 G 500 yards away on the riverbank!
I should have made myself clearer. I was replying to @quavers claim that it only works for outgoing calls. wifi calling works for in and out.

Just checked Apple's site, wifi calling needs a compatible handset (obviously) and a carrier that supports it. Carriers in UK are 3, EE (but not BT), Vodafone and O2

It clicked on for incoming and outgoing calls - it's an o2 app so don't know if you can get it.

with these phone wi fi apps , its just dawned to me that you can only use it for calling out ,is that right and no use for people calling you .

No, automatically connects for both (there is a second delay but nothing worth worrying about).

Mine is through EE - have they got any decent sim only deals? Your phone would have to be compatible, what have you got?

On a side note, having a contract with EE somehow knocked a third off my BT business phone and broadband price.
