As above 30% moisture chitting and heating in the heap. Opinions on how much they are worth to sell to a neighbour with livestock and the Machinary and products in stock to make them keep?

Do you have any local contractors that could crimp them for you? Will buy you time and then can either feed them yourself or sell through the winter.

I think your neighbour holds all the Aces. Why not just ask him what he will pay for them? And then make your mind up.
I am the neighbour but I want to be fair as I also do his combining and getting them cut allowed me to put the combine away. I can use the beans but didn’t need them as I’ve got plenty of dry ones of my own.

Ok

Take spot price of beans then find out local contract drying charge at nearest grain store to you. Deduct drying charge on wet weight and then take off weight loss and pay on dry weight. You might want to add a small bit more for your trouble, he might want a bit more for allowing you to combine them wet so you could put your combine away 🤣
All transparent and above board 👍

There was an ibc of propcorn on fb.
:(
I have one available too :)

A trailer landed here with some like that a few years ago. The instruction with it was to try and do something with them and let him know if there was anything left. Bruised them straight into the diet feeder and doused them in propcorn. Very slow job and had to watch like a hawk, as they would build up on the rollers.

They did keep for a while and fed alright, but 3 tractors, the loader and me tied up for a day better spent elsewhere meant I wasn't over generous when settling up.

You can't price them on drying/weight loss, as they will be rotten first. The Christmas 2012 combiners have that t-shirt.

The weight loss on 30% will be massive

No merchant is going to buy sprouting, mouldy beans regardless of them being subsequently dried. They are scrap to all intents. Any offer above compost price is generous.

IF you can get them through a mobile drier the situation may well be rescued. The best tool
For making a silk purse out of a sows ear.
But at 30% it’s going to be a tricky job.
Failing which see my crimp option.
Truth is they wanted dealing with immediately after cutting ……..

You could mix the wet ones with the dry ones let moisture settle then roll or crimp

By the time the heap is going green they are spoilt and not saleable in all honesty. If the OP wants to do a good deed then fair enough. I used to mill screenings from a seed treatment plant which was £30/t to buy, bare in mind that's what those beans are...at best. However, the screenings were 14%, not 30% mc

£30 ain’t going to cut it with a neighbour that OP also does the contract combining for.
This is one of those situations where there has to be some give and take. Going in completely hard nosed isn’t the answer especially if you want to retain any local respect amongst the community. Word travels fast 😉 and bad words move like ⚡

tell him as it is, and ask him to price them, he must know the state of them.

picked up 40 ton of wheat one year, bottom 4 ins of the heap flooded, not a good sample, owner was going to dump the lot. Right place, right time, kept the bucket 6ins off the floor, and loaded sensibly, absolutely fine.

propcorned all our 70 ton of corn this year, wheat had started to sprout, so easy solution, chap came with 2 tractors, did the lot without our help.

Propcorn over 20% must be £25 a ton
