How to change ram seals?

Hello everyone,

My David Brown Backhoe Loader has decided to mark it's territory in a major way! One of the slew rams is leaking a bit, the other is leaking like a sieve. Shame, I was doing a bit of ditching this afternoon and was just praising the thing, how well it was going!

I've taken the rams off, but not stripped them down...

Question is, how would I go about repairing ram seals? I've had a quick look on t'internet for replacement seals, there are a few different types, but I can't find as yet a way of measuring to specify which size etc I need.

Or, do I take them to a proper hydraulic shop, pay the extra, and be done with?

Group them up as sets, cable tie together, chuck in a jiffy bag and post to Rhondama seals, phone up first to speak to Andrew to organise etc!! They will return your seals together with new ones in maximum couple days. If they can't get them they can even make some up! Top quality firm.

It rather depends on how easy the rams are to strip down.
Some are an absolute delight, very easy to pull apart.
Others are a nightmare, if yours are the latter take them to a hydraulic shop for repair.
