There's been very drying winds for a few days now , currently gusting to 40 knots and from the South East no snow or sleet so its all good for a fire on high open ground with the 'right' sort of vegetation only need a spark to get in under and bobs yer beano..fanny's...

A huge wildfire which swept across Dartmoor last week may have spread so quickly due to a decline in grazing livestock, according to farmers and rural experts. | ITV News West Country

A fire service spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the fire on Dartmoor (near Peter Tavy) on 11 February was caused accidentally by a member of the public. The fire damaged six square kilometres of moorland in total.

Local BBC news tonight says investigations into it's cause have found it was caused accidently by a member of the general public. Hummmm.
