Hyd oil overheating on rear discharge

I was using my new to me rear discharge spreader yesterday & it’s over heating my back end oil. Spreader has the valve knob to shut floor speed down or up then spool in constant. I had pipes in same spool side by side or should I have one in flow & other in free flow return . My tractor only has one spool I can alter flow on should I try it in that one?

Our valtra only has one adjustable spool,I shut that down for the spreader ( marshall) and it doesn't heat the oil up at all

Open the spreader right up and use the tractor control to restrict the floor speed

Oil is overheating because you're trying to pump far more flow through the valve than is necessary to power the floor

Plumping into a free flow return instead of through the spool valve will help, but it's not fixing the problem

You need to reduce the tractor flow, regardless of whether it's the spreader valve or tractor valve (with the spreader valve wide open) that you use to adjust the floor speed

My old k430 deutz only shoves 80l/min thorough the spools, but it still needs turned down to half that or the oil cooks
