Hyd. ram seals? Help.

Mate is renewing the seals in a two stage ram, but the seal seat does not come apart. Can the seals just be stretched over the shoulder, or would that destroy them?

Yes it's usual to stretch them over with a thin blunt screwdriver. Them seem stiff but have plenty of give in them

How did the old ones come off?

Put them in some hot water to soften them a bit

Wasn't there when he took them off, but a couple of them were split.
