Hydraulic Pump Failure

So bought a 4 year old Combine privately for this harvest. Bought directly from a reputable Farming Business. It had done circa 950 hrs and had been on a full Main dealer service plan agreement with all done as manufacturers schedule. We have been given copies of all work done.

Part way through our harvest catastrophic failure of a Hydraulic Pump. Fillings, bits , fragments etc throughout the complete Hydraulic system. Had to be low loadered to the main dealer.

The questions

How much do we replace to try and decontaminate the system and how many components do we replace.

Should we look for help from the manufacturer as the failure of the pump is a manufacturing fault and the machine has not done a lot of work.

How much help should we expect from the manufacturer.

Our local main dealer have been outstanding and gave us a machine to finish the harvest.

I bought privately so will not be making a claim against the previous owners.

Has anyone fitted a magnetic filter or seen one which could be fitted in the system.

Would definitely ask the question to the main dealer/ manufacturer nothing should be failing at those hours. As for decontaminating the system that's not easy ,really need to flush the system without the machine running then change.the oil and filters very regularly until they are clean but could always be a issue with how many different circuits and dead ends there are.

If it's the main hydrostatic pump that's failed then I would inspect the hyd motor it's operating. As any contamination will have gone there too. As for removing any contamination, then I would remove any hyd pipes and thoroughly clean them, as well as the oil cooler and hydraulic tank. Also if possible find out why your hyd pump failed in such a major way. I know some people have put a large magnet inside the hyd tank to catch any metal particles.
