Hydraulic spool valve problems.

Have been having a silly problem on the spool valves on my compost turner. Occasionally one of the rams would only move if I held the operating switch in the cab 'on' and then operated the hydraulic spool on the tractor. It has steadily got worse and now nothing works unless you do the above a dozen times. When I operate the switches on the control box the pipes go rigged and the tractor dies a bit, but nothing moves. In the picture of my valves the top slice seems to be a pressure relief valve, and has directional control written on it, and no hose connected. It has a solenoid with a cable attached but I don't know what energises it as my control box only has 5 switches for the 5 spools. The machine is a Menart.
