I’ve made a huge mistake… (new sprayer)

A word of caution….

I sold my 2015 Amazone UX3200 sprayer a few weeks ago because it had done 70,000 acres and it was also tactically the right thing to do from a deprecation/tax point of view.

i bought it new, and I can honestly say it never once let me down. Ever.

I wanted a new Amazone, but my local dealer couldn’t sell me one, so I ended up buying a new JD 7320i.

Well, I’ve been out with it today, aiming for a decent full spray day. I did two fields of AstroKerb a month ago when I first got it, and I suppose it all felt rather different, but I decided to wait to see how I felt once I had a decent full spray day.

Well….

What a total heap of shite.

Pathetically weak booms.
Dreadful folding system, using a combine’s control system with the wrong logos!
Inconsistent pressure (hunts between 1.8 and 2.5 bar).
Tracking drawbar is a complete monstrosity compared to Amazone’s steering axle). It aggressively accelerates around bends, meaning the boom badly oscillates and the application is all over place (fore and aft) until it settles down.
Leaking hydraulics.
Connection needs the rear lift arms at 0% means I can’t even get into various fields.
Boom sections flap about, even when pressurised on rams. Are they supposed to be loose and floppy?!!
Reaction time of height and tilt ever so slow, to the point that it went ploughing twice today. Even after adjusting sensitivity.
After going to max height to fold up, the boom then drops so fast that you have to come out of ‘fold’ mode to re-lift them, to go back into ‘fold’ mode to get it over the guides and down onto the rack.
Water volume (when you stop spraying) fluctuates between 450 and 700 litres for about 5 minutes!!

I love Deere, but this sprayer is a total crock. Avoid!!

Blimey, that will be disappointing, it wouldn't be cheap either.

Did you consider any other Amazone alternatives, or have any demo's before buying? JD sprayers used to have a terrible reputation for falling over.
Last time I contemplated changing mine, Chafer, Horsch, Knight and Landquip were on the shortlist (4000/24 trailed)

I really wanted another new Amazone replacement, but was told I couldn’t buy one from my local JD dealer (even though they’re Amazone dealers) because JD make sprayers, so it had to be a JD sprayer.

If anyone wants a JD 7320i with less than 300 acres on it, I’ll happily sell it and take a big hit!!

I’d been told the JD was a superior sprayer, and the dealer is a friend.

Yes, I should have had a demo, but you live and learn.
Lol massive red flag right there what a joke to claim to be better than Amazone who are literally the market leaders.
Bit concerning as my neighbour has just bought a JD sprayer as well I hope he has better luck with his...
If it's new there will be a warranty and I'm sure your "friend" dealer will happily fix all your issues no questions asked....

Just explain to the dealer that you aren’t happy with it as it’s not as he described to you and that you want him to take it back because it’s not fit for purpose, he will have to consider this to be the right move if he wants to continue selling you JD kit in the future, which I assume you use.
Then just get another Amazone or maybe a Horsch as they’re supposed to be very good too, I’m sure @Clive has one.
And most especially if you’re using it yourself for that kind of acreage, life’s too short to not have what you want, at 300 acres, you shouldn’t be the one taking the big hit!

It will be fine. Just get dealer out to set it up as you want it.

They wouldn't sell any if there as bad as your making out.

Sure someone will read this thread and be in touch!

To be honest, apart from the fluctuating pressure, the rest of the issues are just bad design. It honestly feels like going from an Audi to a Kia…

I don’t doubt the PDI, it’s just inferior in so many design ways in comparison, hence my comment about making a huge mistake. It’s not the dealer’s fault. They sell lots of them.

There’s no way a dealer will take it back just because I don’t like it. It’s my error for thinking I was upgrading when I bought it.

I feel like I’ve gone from an arable farmer’s sprayer to a stockman’s sprayer…

With all due respect, there are many people doing lots of acres with JD sprayers and driving Kia's.

I've no loyalty to JD sprayers. I'm sure your dealer knows you and thought it was fit for purpose.

If you don't like the feel of the switches, could you not run it through isobus and use tractor controls for boom etc?

There’ll be a stockman reading this, looking out the window at his Kia……..

mine did 85000mile and all we bought for it was tyres, brake pads, oil and filters.

just saying. 🤣
