Worms can also do similar with stones. Often see it in the veg garden.

It’s worth gently lifting one of the gatherings and seeing the size of the burrow, quite remarkable I think. Make sure you replace it though.

Ahh! You're right. I didn't even notice the slugs. I was totally distracted by the excitement of seeing all that lovely worm activity. We don't normally have any problems with slugs after a crop of linseed.
