all i want is a straight answer, is that too much to ask? you voted leave now tell us how its going to work! please that's all i ask. will all the banks, car manufacturers stay here in the long run with tariffs on their goods? more importantly how likely is it for an international company to set up European headquarters in the uk now? LLoyds moving some of its jobs already to Germany. How are we going to counter act these loss of jobs? please give me this amazing plan you have because so far I've heard nothing!! just this illusion that we're taking back control! come on!!

If you think that anyone can answer your question then I think you need to spend some more time in the wide, wide world.

Brexit is going to take a long time, with 27 other countries doing their damndest to punish the UK for having the audacity to leave. Nobody can possibly even guess how it will all end up.

What we do know is how it would all have ended up had we not voted for Brexit. The founding Treaty of 25 March 1957 set it out clearly - ever closer economic and political union, i.e the aim was to be the Federal State of Europe.

A shortened extract from the preamble to that Treaty:-

The Community shall have as its task, ....... progressively approximating the economic policies of Member States, ...... a continuous and balanced expansion, ......... and closer relations between the States belonging to it.

This sort of "vision" has been repeated over the last 60 years. If that is what you want, then I can understand you wanting to Remain. I, and more than half who voted last June, do not want to be part of it.

We do not know what will happen, but we do know what we do not want to happen.

The simple answer is HOPE as opposed to the alternative of remaining which is NO HOPE or HOPELESS

I hadn't realised we were hopeless and have no hope. Aren't we the best performing economy in Europe by a long way. Haven't we been like that for many many years now.
Why do you see us as hopeless?

We are certainly currently the best performing economy and we have for a long time been near or at the top.
However this has only been the case since joining the EU remember the phrase " sick man of Europe" that was us for 20 years before we joined.
We have not left Europe yet and it may be 10 - 15 years before we can truly say whether leaving has bought us benefits.
If we lose the right for our banks to operate in Europe, the effects could be catastrophic for our economy, I see JP Morgan has announced the closing of its London offices after Brexit moving staff to Frankfurt and Paris.

As far as I am aware, the 'sick man' tag has been applied to various countries over time. It was applied to the UK through the 70's, leading up to the Winter of Discontent in 78/79. We joined the Common market in 1973. How is that 20 years?

I really don't know. A lot has happened since last June. I certainly hadn't realised the EU were going to be so petty and vindictive about us leaving. I can't see us having a good relationship in the future now.
Pity we didn't leave years ago. Pity we ever joined. Ironically, they didn't want us to join in the first place. It took 12 years to join, so god knows how many years it will take to leave.

How are they punishing us? by making us pay what we owe? we signed up to pay into the EU and we're still going to be part of it for 2 years! so we pay in for those 2 years! its that simple. By voting leave you need to be able to answer these questions not just vote to leave because you feel maybe after 10 years we might have better trade with india.

No you don't you want to try and make mischief I think.

That is what you asked and that is what my response answered. Now you add to your original question to show that you had no intentions of asking a simple question as you claimed. I expected nothing less of course.

I did not say they would punish us. I said they are going to try their damndest to punish us. They will fail, as they have always failed.

I note you signed up purely to make this post, but are one of those people who is not prepared to declare who and what you are. The automatic assumption is that you are some Europhile, or even worse, one of the unelected EU minions. No matter. Some of us have decades of experience of dealing with such people and you faze us not at all.

One thing about open forums like this is that you have absolutely no idea of the background and knowledge of other posters. It is a serious mistake to put us all down as peasants. I am quite happy to admit that I am indeed a peasant. That is my life, that is my lifestyle. I am also quite well educated, and that makes me a dangerous peasant with which to cross swords. I could probably in reality successfully cross swords with you too should you choose to do so.

Has anybody in government ever said we will not pay what we owe until Brexit? If so, please quote the source because I would like to see who said it.

I did not vote Leave in the hope that in 10 years we might have a better trade with India. I have been opposed to membership of the (now) EU since before the first referendum, with the prime, but not only, reason being the founding Treaty as I posted in my initial response.

The following is harsh because you were harsh on the OP for comments which are fair and reasonable.
You sir are a stinking hypocrite, you have your nice little spot in Portugal , collecting your English pension and enjoying the good life in the sun.
Yet you are happy to campaign vociferously to cut ties between Britain and Europe.
Do you still come home to enjoy the services of the NHS ?

I can assure you that it is very easy here to get treatment without being resident.
The easiest is to just quote the address of a close relation who is resident here. I have a family member who spent many years in France working but always came back here for treatment, as they did not qualify there, having no identity card. They were working in the black economy, in the tourist industry paying no tax, but making a good living.
They and their family never had any problems having treatment for a number of issues including broken bones and 2 pregnancies. All put through her fathers address

Businesses banks and the like will have to change and adapt that's what we farmers are always being told

Many businesses will cope due to exchange rates etc. and WTO rules rules preventing grossly unfair prejudice against imports.
However for banks, there are no WTO rules and most countries ban banks from operating from outside, the same applies to insurance companies. London has profited massively by becoming the hub of EU banking and insurance.
To retain this access will be difficult to say the least
