I need a solution

The hole where the unfolding cylinder is attached is not round anymore. I want to enlarge it and make a bushing. The only problem is that it's part of the main chasis so i can't dismantle it/take it to a mill.

What options do i have?

Clamp weld a plate over it and drill with mag drill?

Mg drill, or plasma it out, tidy up with a die grinding and weld bush in.

Did some for a neighbour last year.

I can't make the bushings wider due to the way the cylinder is attached but i wont mind changing them every couple of years. Weird thing about this implement is that they used bushings on the wing side but not on the chassis.

drill might be difficult to get started so it can help to drill the hole in a plate 6-10mm first then tack weld that plate on the chassis so drill cant slide when boring the actual chassis hole.

How old is the machine ? Doesn’t look very old in the pics . I would speak to the dealer/ manufacturer first about premature wear before I started trying to fix it myself .

It's a 4 year old machine and the dealer that sourced it (grey import) went bust so can't hope for much help

I would contact the manufacturer direct . After seeing this amount of wear on a 4 yr old machine I think I would not be buying one .

I'm not from the UK and i don't think they have a representative in here other than the main dealer, which i doubt woud be very helpfull as i didn't get it from them

Its hard to tell from the pic but how much bigger has that hole got from the pin that fits it?
ie, size of hole now V size of pin?
that would depend on how much more you could comfortably bore out before you'd cross the line and weaken it, it would also govern on what type of steel you would make a bushing out of.

Enlarging a hole, if not too much bigger ....and not too much precision needed, can be done quite effectively with a good quality burr in a die grinder.

The pins are 30mm and the holes are 35-37. There's not a lot of metal pushed out of the hole and the difference in diameter is big so i'm thinking that it is a case of a friday afternoon build and they forgot to install the bushes because on the other side of the rams there are 2mm bushes (30mm pin, 2x2mm bush -> 34mm hole)


I used a mag drill to round the holes, new fabricated bushes and pins (some pins had a wear of more than 4mm in diameter) and job done

If you look in the background of the picture i added, you can see how the cylinders are attached. No room for welding anything on the outside of the plate
