ice builder v compact chiller

I've just been quoted £6000 to have a 2nd hand ice builder installed, I thought it seemed a bit much and it will only pre-cool to about 10 - 15

Would a compact chiller be a better job ?

I was informed having an ice builder and a plate cooler using plenty of water,milk from the parlour would hit the tank at around collection temp,without much tank cooling needed.
Pretty sure you could just use water in a plate cooler and knock down the temp by as much as you have quoted,seems poor IMO.

As said above, my plate cooler takes it down to 12-14 and and ice builder should take it down to near 4 (i don't have one).

For 100 cows if buy an old 4/500g ice bank tank (£2 k installed?) and use it to build ice over night. It will have 2 sub pumps in the back already to circulate water around the tank, just disconnect one of these and run it through a second plate cooler.

We have 2 plate coolers 1st uses bore hole water gets it to 10 -12 degrees. Submersible pump in the back of the tank pumps chilled water through 2 nd plate cooler takes it to 5 degrees

We got two plate coolers one on the bore hole ones on the ice bank goes in the tank around 4degrees we finish milking at 7 in the morning milks taken straight away by the tanker because it's cool enough,ice builds up Inbetween milking,we've got the heat recovery off the compressors aswel makes about 500 litres of of 65degrees hot water everyday in the winter double that in the summer, don't buy the deleval heat recovery it makes butter in the bulk tanker,don't ask me how it just did
